Well we had 2 games on the slate for today, but Mother Nature had a different idea and said “we’re only going to have one instead,” as the Cubs/Phillies game was postponed due to rain and will be rescheduled for a double header tomorrow.
That leads up to the only game today. The Mets got out to an early lead thanks to Yoenis Cespedes’ 2nd inning shot, his 2nd of the season. St. Louis takes the lead in the 6th courtesy of a Tyler O’Neill 3-run bomb. The Mets tie it up in the 7th with a 2-run triple off the bat of Jake Marisnick. Both bullpens hold up and bring this one into the 10th whereupon Wilson Ramos delivers the walk-off double scoring Amed Rosario. New York takes this one 4-3. Rick Porcello had a fine day minus that 1 mistake to O’Neill. Porcello ended his day giving up 4 hits over 7 innings while giving up the 3 runs and striking out 7. He’s currently 3-4 with a 3.35 ERA in his first season with the Mets.
Transactionally Speaking:
Miami designates Francisco Cervelli for assignment;
The Rockies designate old friend, Steven Wright for assignment;
Seattle activates Danny Salazar; and
Seattle also claims one “Fat Panda” Pablo Sandoval off of waivers!
It’s not much, but that’s your Monday sprint across the basepaths.
