May 12 MLB Simulation Results

Willie
Another day, another set of box scores to go through.
Danny Santana hits a 9th inning home run, his 9th of the season, in a losing cause but it DOES keep the Indians from being shut out.  Hunter Harvey pitches the first five innings of Baltimore’s 4-1 victory to pick up his first win of the year.
Mitch Garver has 2 home runs with 5 RBI and Nelson Cruz hits his 10th as the Twins pummel the Tigers 13-1.  Jake Odorizzi fans 12 over 8 innings evening his record at 3-3.
The Yankees are picking up games and moving up the standings as they shut out the Rays 4-0.  Gio Urshela with his 6th home run and Gerrit Cole goes 7 1/3 giving up just 4 hits while striking out 14.  Not too shabby, but NOT line of the day!
Shutouts abound!  This one see the Rangers over the Blue Jays 2-0.  Rougned Odor provides the offense with his 9th shot and 7 Ranger pitchers combine on a 3-hitter.
Kansas City and Houson enter the 10th knotted at 4.  KC promptly scores 2 in the top of the inning, but Jose Altuve hits a 3-run shot in the bottom of the inning off of closer, Ian Kennedy to end this one in Houston’s favor 7-6.
Juan Soto punishes a Dylan Bundy pitch in the 4th inning of Washington’s 5-2 win over the Angels.  Anibal Sanchez pitches 6 1/3 of 1-run ball to earn the win and see his ERA go from 9.55 to 7.81.
Tom Murphy hits his 3rd home run as the Marlins top the A’s 6-3.  Khris Davis goes 1-3 to see his average drop to .316 which is down 15 points in the last five games…come on .240.
Monte Harrison coming out of nowhere and has another 2 home run day today as the Marlins squash the Reds 9-2.  Harrison now with a 2 game tally of 4 home runs, 8 RBI and 6 runs scored.
Line of the day folks…As the Phillies tripped up the Dodgers, Jean Segura was THE MAN!  Segura started the first with a solo shot off of Julio Urias, RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, a 2-run homer off Pedro Baez in the 6th, walked in the 7th, then hit a game winning solo shot off of Joe “Machine Gun” Kelly in the bottom of the 9th.  All in all Segura was 5-5 with 3 home run, 5 RBI an 4 runs scored.  Kelly drops to 0-5 on the year.  A footnote to this story, Cody Bellinger hits number 13 and 14 and Max Muncy adds his 10th in the Dodgers’ effort.
Carlos Martinez tosses the first 6 innings of the Cardinals’ 3-0 shutout over the Pirates.  Martinez is now 5-1.
The Red Sox woes continue…this time to the hands of the Braves.  Jeter Downs hits his 3rd home run and Alex Verdugo has an RBI-single in the 9th, but the Sox can’t get any closer than 5-4.  Stat of the day, all 5 Atlanta runs came in the 2nd inning and were all unearned thanks to Rafael Devers’ 5th error of the year.
Former MVP, Ryan Braun hits his first round tripper of the year in the Brewers’ 8-3 win over the Cubs.  Jon Lester dropping to 1-4 as he gives up 4 runs, all by way of the long ball, in 4 innings.  His ERA is now at 5.71.
The Rockies couldn’t keep up with the Giants as they drop this one 14-3.  Every San Francisco starter had at least 1 hit, even the pitcher, Johnny Cueto.  The offense was highlighted by Austin Slater with his 3-5, 2 home run, 7 RBI performance.  “Fat Panda” Pablo Sandoval had a 4th inning pinch hit single, stays in the game, and hits a solo shot in the 6th.  Sandoval now an even .400 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI on the year.
Michael Conforto leads the way for the Mets today.  A solo shot in the 3rd and a grand slam in the 5th, both off of Madison Bumgarner, lift New York up over Arizona 6-1.  Rick Porcello with back to back impressive outings.  Today he gives up just the 1 run over 7 1/3 to pick up his 2nd win.
San Diego crushes the White Sox 13-3.  Yasiel Puig was 3-3 with a home run and 3 RBI on the day.  Eloy Jimenez hits his 8th and Nomar Mazara his 11th in the Loss.  Lucas Giolito exits after 1 1/3 with a mild calf strain.  Hurry back, Lucas!  My fantasy team needs you!
Transactionally speaking:
Colorado signs relief pitcher, Willy Peralta;
Braves activate Cole Hamels and send him to AAA to rehab;
Mets activate Yoenis Cespedes and send him to AAA to rehab;
Dodgers put Wlaker Buehler on the 15-day IL;
Seattle activates Mitch Haniger and sends him to AAA to rehab; and
The Nationals activate Kurt Suzuki
That’s your Tuesday trip around the diamond!

  1. Yanks win. The Red Sox lose. Mets continue to define futility. Such intelligence. Such perfection. I think the sim should run for president.
