May 11 MLB Simulation Results

Ken Griffey Jr. #24

Another week of baseball begins….NOW
Cleveland scores a run in the top of the 14th as they beat the Orioles 4-3.  Shane Bieber goes 7 1/3 giving up 2 runs while striking out 14 in the no-decision.
Jonathan Schoop, CJ Cron and Miguel Cabrera go a combined 6-12 with 3 RBI in the Tigers’ 5-3 victory over the Twins.  Cabrera now with 2,834 career hits and is just 5 shy of tying Charlie Gehringer for 50th all-time.
The Yankees keep their winning streak alive thanks to a 16th inning 2-run shot off the bat of Aaron Judge, his 7th on the year.  Judge was 0-6 with 5 strikeouts prior to the blast.  Both starters pitch well for their respective teams with Jordan Montgomery 1 unearned over 7 innings and 1 earned over 6 1/3 for Blake Snell.  Yankees outlast the Rays 3-1.
The Blue Jays pick up their 12th win of the year by taking out the Rangers 5-4.  Randal Grichuk goes 3 for 3 with a 3-run home run and Nate Pearson gives up 4 runs over 5 innings to pick up his 3rd victory.
Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve both go 3 for 4 with home runs off of Clay Buchholz as the Astros beat the Royals 6-4.
Typical Mike Trout day today…He goes 3 for 4 with 2 long balls, now with 12 on the year, and 4 RBI as the Angels beat the Nationals 8-3.  Albert Pujols now officially moves past Willie Mays on the all-time home run list as he rounds the bags for the 661st time.  A-Rod is next at 696.  It’s possible with his contract through 2022, but we’ll see.
Monte Harrison blasts 2 out of the park in the Marlins’ 7-5 victory over the Reds.  Sonny Gray didn’t have a particularly good outing as he gives up 6 runs over 5 1/3 to see his ERA go up half a run to 4.33.
Keston Hiura warming up, he goes 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and a run scored as the Brewers whack the Cubs 8-3.
JT Riddle goes 2 for 4 with a 3-run shot off of St. Louis reliever, Jim Johnson as the Pirates pound the Cardinals 13-2.  Pirates’ starter, Hector Noesi, in his 2020 debut, pitches 7 innings of shutout ball while striking out 8.  Miles Mikolas gets shelled giving up 7 runs in 3 1/3.  His ERA jumps from 1.73 to 3.68.  OUCH!
David Dahl and Nolan Arenado are the new tag team champs!  They hook up to go 6-10 with 2 home runs, 8 RBI and 5 runs scored as the Rockies go toe to toe with the Giants and win 13-12.
Tomas Nido with a pinch-hit RBI single in the top of the 11th to lift the Mets up 3-2 over the Diamondbacks.
And lastly, Eloy Jimenez goes 2 for 5 with his 7th home run to go along with 3 RBI, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Padres.  The consistent attack by San Diego, led by Francisco Mejia’s 3 hits and Eric Hosmer, Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. all adding 2 hits each puts the southern California boys up 7-3 over the White Sox.  On a side-note, Luis Robert was thrown out at the plate and then taken out of the game.  A diagnosis is pending.
Transactionally speaking:
The Red Sox get in on the Mark Reynolds major league tour as they sign him to a minor league deal;
Pittsburgh activates Gregory Polanco; and
The Rangers activate Elvis Andrus.
That’s your Monday trip around the diamond!

  1. “Judge was 0-6 with 5 strikeouts prior to the blast.” Bah! When pigs fly!!! Judge will win the baseball Triple Crown this year. He will post Ruthian numbers! And what’s up with having the Mets win? Mets = My Entire Team Stinks, not “Metropolitans.” They had their reservations for last place ready prior to spring training.

Gosh, it looks like the sim needs more of my impartial assistance. No problem. I’m glad to help.

    1. Even if he DID win the Triple Crown…enjoy the asterisk lol In a shortened season, I could actually see him get two categories, but in a full season, Judge wouldn’t play enough games to get there. There’s also the fact that he’s never hit .285 in the majors too. Does that go in the “fake news” pile? lol As always, thanks for the comment!
