Aaaaand we’re off!
Willie Calhoun led us off yesterday on Star Wars Day and he does it again on Cinco de Mayo!  He goes 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and supplies 4 RBI in Texas’ 6-2 victory over the Indians.  Corey Kluber gets his 2nd win by giving up 2 runs over 7 1/3 to beat his former team and bring his ERA under 5.
Josh Bell conducted a hitting clinic at Yankee Stadium today going 5 for 5 with his 6th and 7th long balls of the season and hitting the 5 RBI mark in Pittsburgh’s 11-1 beat down.  Chris Archer throws 6 2/3 of shutout ball to even his record at 3-3.  Brett Gardner gets plunked by Chad Kuhl and the benches clear in this one.  Suspensions will surely be coming!
Toronto was well on their way to their 10th win of the season until the Orioles scored 4 in the 9th to win 5-4.  All of those 9th inning runs courtesy of DJ Steward’s grand slam.
After a rainout and a day off, the Red Sox were well rested and back to work.  They were rusty early, but when it counted, in the bottom of the 9th, the Sox exploded for 6 runs to take this game from the Angels 8-7.  JD Martinez hits his 8th home run and Alex Verdugo adds 3 hits on the day.
Austin Romine goes 5 for 5 for the Tigers today, but Colorado wasn’t impressed.  4-4 in the 11th and the ever-dangerous David Freitas steps up and singles in Nolan Arenado (boy does that sound backwards).  5-4 the final score.
The Twins get back to their winning ways beating the Giants 5-3.  Byron Buxton with his 5th and Miguel Sano adds his 11th today.  Jose Berrios fans 7 over 7 innings and gives up 3 runs for his 3rd victory on the year.
The Astros get 10 hits off of Kansas City pitching, but can’t get anyone across the plate as they get shut out 2-0.  Justin Verlander pitches well in the no-decision pitching 7 innings of 2-hit ball while striking out 5.
Tim Anderson has a 2 for 3 day and launches his 7th rocket.  He drives in half the runs in Chicago’s 6-3 win over the Rays.
Shed Long Jr. hits his 5th home run and drives in 3 in Seattle’s victory over the A’s.  Yusei Kikuchi gives up 2 earned runs over 6 innings to bring his record to 3-4.  Seattle wins this one 7-3.
Miguel Rojas has himself a 4 for 5 day as Miami takes down Milwaukee 7-3.  Keston Hiura feels the power with his 8th bomb in the loss.
The Nationals beat the Diamondbacks today by a score of 5-3.  Wellington Castillo with his first jack of the year.  Max Scherzer moves to 3-3 by giving up 3 runs over 7 innings and adds 8 strikeouts on the day.
Travis d’Arnaud his a 9th inning grand slam to put Atlanta on top of Philly 6-2.  Aaron Nola does not get his 7th win of the season, but pitched well enough to.  He struck out 9 over 7 2/3 giving up 2 runs.
Noah Syndergaard sees his record drop to 0-4 today.  He gives up a first inning grand slam to Freddy Galvis as Cincinnati goes on their way to beat the Mets 9-6.
Paul Dejong goes yard and Paul Goldschmidt chips in 2 RBI for St. Louis and Miles Mikolas combines with John Gant on a 5-hit shutout of the Padres today.  Final score of this one was 4-0.
The Dodgers almost give another one away in the 9th.  Kenley Jansen shakes off a Victor Caratini home run late in the game, but settles down and strikes out the last two batters to secure LA’s 7-6 victory over the Cubs.
Transactionally speaking…
The Braves activate Ronald Acuna;
The Pirates put Joe Musgrove on the 60-day IL;
San Diego activates Tommy Pham; and
The Nationals’, Yan Gomes goes on the 10-day IL.
