May 4 MLB Simulation Results

5-4

May the Fourth be with you all!

Now back to business.

Willie Calhoun hits his 5th home run in Texas’ 3-0 shutout of the Indians.  Kyle Gibson picks up his first win by going 6 1/3 giving up just 4 hits.  Adam Plutko pitches well in the loss giving up 1 unearned run over 7 while striking out 9.

There’s one team left that hasn’t hit the 10-win level, and that doesn’t change today.  The hapless Blue Jays lose again 10-2 by the hands of the Orioles.  Renato Nunez and Ryan Mountcastle each go deep and combine for 5 RBI.  Alex Cobb gets his 6th win pitching 7 innings of 2-run ball.

Victor Reyes goes 4 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored in the Tigers 11-5 win over the Rockies.

Melky Cabrera hits his first long ball of the year as part of his 3 for 4 day.  The Giants keep the Twins in check 6-4.

The Royals keep rolling.  Today they top the Astros 8-3.  Salvador Perez was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with a home run and 3 RBI.  Mike Montgomery moves to 4-0 giving up 1 run over 5 1/3. “No play for Mr. Clay” Buchholz comes in to relieve Montgomery and promptly gives up 2 runs.  Hows that hamstring, Clay?

AL Player of the Week, Khris Davis picking up where he left off going 4 for 5 today.  I may need to come off my June 15th date for him to be hitting .240 soon.  Matt Chapman adds his 4th home run in Oakland’s 6-4 victory over the Mariners.

The Mets take out the Reds 6-3.  Amed Rosario a force today with 3 hits including his 2nd home run of the year.  All of Cincinnati’s runs coming from a 6th inning blast by Nick Castellanos.  Jake deGrom strikes out 8 through 7 1/3 picking up his 4th win.

Monte Harrison hits his 3rd home run in the Marlin’s 4-1 victory over the Brewers.

Freddie Freeman blasts his 10th home run, but it’s Christian Pache’s 10th inning single that drives in Tyler Flowers that sinks the Phillies’ ship.  Atlanta wins this one 4-3.

Matt Carpenter supplies the offense in the Cardinals’ 3-0 shutout of San Diego.  Carpenter was 2 for 3 with his 5th bomb.  Jack Flaherty left this game after 2 2/3 with an injury.

You would think that when Cody Bellinger goes deep and Joc Pederson knocks 2 out of the park that the Dodgers would come away with victory, but the Cubs weren’t intimidated as they score 2 in the 10th to take this match-up 7-6.  Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Schwarber with solo shots for the winners.

Transaction news:

Nick Pivetta activated from his AAA stint where he gave up 1 run and struck out 7 in 5 innings;

Colorado releases Mark Lowe;

The Twins send Sergio Romo and his beard to rehab in AAA;

Colorado sings Hunter Pence to a minor league deal.

St. Louis reliever. Carlos Torres is shut down for the season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament; and

Marco Gonzalez looks like he’ll be out for 4 months with a bone spur in his elbow.

That does it for Star Wars Day.  Live long and prosper!  What do you mean that’s different?  Huh?  Whatever, dork.

  1. Oh, so the Yanks were off? No losing today? They didn’t have their butts handed to them by the Bad News Bears or the kids from “The Sandlot”? What a welcome change!!!

    Okay, you need to take the following and create true code for insertion into the sim before the next Bombers game as it corrects an obvious flaw in the logic…
    //======================================
    //CLEVELAND_SPIDERS_1899 is a structure containing the per-position stats of the 1899 Cleveland Spiders,
    //one of baseball’s greatest teams of all time.
    //replaceTeam is a function that replaces the attributes of the team facing the Yanks with those of the Spiders.
    //Have something like this run before each Yankees sim game. Trust me, it will work out all issues in the sim.
    //Honest. The level of competition facing the Boys from the Bronx will be unmatched!
    //Trust me. Would I lie in order to benefit the Yankees? Moi? Never!

    if($home_team==”YANKEES”) {
    replaceTeam($visiting_team, CLEVELAND_SPIDERS_1899);
    } elseif ($visiting_team==”YANKEES”) {
    replaceTeam($home_team, CLEVELAND_SPIDERS_1899);
    } else {}

    //Voila! Sim fixed!!!
    //Honest!
    //======================================
    😛
