Let’s get to it, shall we?
Today was Jordan Montgomery’s turn in the rotation and he made the best of it by pitching a complete game shutout. Montgomery gave up 6 hits and walked 3 to move to 2 and 2. Aaron Judge goes 2 for 5 with his 3rd home run and 4 RBI as the Yankees beat the Tigers 9-0.
Daniel Vogelbach is back! The first baseman goes 2 for 5 with his 6th home run and 3 RBI as the Mariners one-up the Twins 5-4.
Matt Olson was a single shy of the cycle in Oakland’s 8-4 victory over Cleveland. Jesus Luzardo with a bounce-back performance, pitching 5 1/3 giving up 1 earned run and striking out 6 to move to a 2 and 2 record.
Tampa tops the Astros 7-3. Newly acquired Jose Martinez was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Trevor Richards stays hot going 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits. He’s now 3 and 0.
Matt Barnes gives up a 2-run double to Bo Bichette in the 10th to make Red Sox fans cry. Colin McHugh with his 2nd great outing, pitching the first 7 1/3 giving up just 1 while whiffing 11 in the no-decsion. Sox lose to the Blue Jays 3-1.
Nomar Mazara gets the night off and Daniel Palka makes the most of his start going 2 for 4 with a 3-run home run and 4 RBI overall as the White Sox beat the Angels 5-3. As reported yesterday, Michael Kopech got activated, and today he makes his 2020 debut. He tossed 29 pitches over 2 innings allowing just 1 inherited runner to score.
Ender Inciarte crosses the plate in the bottom of the 10th as the Braves send Arizona away 3-2. Max Fried pitching the first 7, giving up 2 in this one.
Christian Yelich hit an RBI double and scored a run all in the 10th inning to highlight a Brewers 6-4 win over the Pirates. Brandon Woodruff throwing the first 6 1/3 giving up just 1 run.
The Dodgers score 8 in the 7th to help them beat the Nationals 11-8. Justin Turner 4 for 5 with 2 runs scored and Joc Pederson hits his 10th long ball today.
Youuuuu betcha! Yu Darvish picks up his first victory of the year today, taking down the Padres 5-0. Darvish goes 5 2/3 with 6 K’s and Daniel Bote hits his 2nd dinger.
Kevin Gausman stifles the Rockies by tossing a 6-hit complete game shutout as the Giants win 2-0. Melky Cabrera 2 for 4 with an RBI highlights what little offense was in this game.
The Marlins did their best, scoring 4 late runs to knock Jake deGrom out of the game, but they couldn’t do anything against Edwin Diaz as Miami falls to the Mets 5-4. Ahmed Rosario and J.D. Davis both with their first home runs in the game.
The only significant transaction today is that Tampa Bay signs Tyler Glasnow to a 6 year extension worth a total of $66,420,000. Let’s see if he can stay healthy for a season! He’s pitched over 100 innings just once in his 4 year career.
Another day of MLB games in the books folks. Time to find my dear friend Tito and hunker down for the first round of the NFL draft.
