Tommy Herr says “When the hell are we gonna play some ball????”

Jordan Montgomery pitches well for the Yankees, giving up 2 runs over 6 innings, but once again, the bullpen blows it.  Austin Meadows 3-5 with an RBI and Brandon Lowe goes 1-2 with 2 RBI as the Rays score 3 in the 7th to come back and beat the Yankees 5-3.  Gio Urshela was 3-4 with an RBI to see his average inflate to .340.

Whit Merrifield now hitting .327 after a 2-4 day in Kansas City’s 3-2 victory over Cleveland.

The Tigers pound the White Sox 10-2.  CJ Cron has been hot of late.  He goes 3-4 with 2 home runs (14, 15) and 5 RBI today and now has 4 dingers and 7 RBI in his last 4 games.  Miguel Cabrera goes 4-4 with 2 RBI and is now over .300 for the season.  Daniel Norris evens his record at 5-5 giving up 2 runs over 8 2/3.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. blasts his 8th home run as the Blue Jays double up the Rangers 6-3.  Danny Santana with his 14th home run in the loss.

Michel Brantley and Yordan Alvarez team up to go 5-7 with 3 RBI as the Astros take out Baltimore 6-4.

Mike Trout crushes his 19th long ball of the year off of Jose Berrios, but Max Kepler hits a 3-run shot (21) in the 1st inning and Byron Buxton bookends it with a 3-run walkoff in the 9th, his 10th, as the Twins top the Angels 6-4.

Mitch Moreland (8) and Christian Vazquez (6) both with 2nd inning shots in Boston’s 4-2 victory over the Brewers.  Dillon Overton cruises through 7 2/3 giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 7 on his way to victory number 2.

Brandon Crawford and Buster Posey both leave the park for their 3rd home runs of the year.  The Giants beat the A’s today 7-3.  Khris Davis a healthy scratch.  It appears our target date is a lost cause.

Ketel Marte flexes twice today on his way to a 2-4, 2 home run (14, 15) and 3 RBI day and Daulton Varsho has a pinch hit RBI single in the bottom of the 11th to give the Diamondbacks an 8-7 win against the Padres.

Pittsburgh beats the Cardinals in game 3 of their 4 game series by a score of 7-3.  Gregory Polanco beats last year’s production and hits his 7th homer of the year and Jason Martin rocks a bases loaded triple.

The Braves dominate the Phillies 7-0.  Freddie Freeman crushes number 15 and Cole Hamels gives up just 1 hit over 7 2/3 while striking out 8 to extend his perfect record to 3-0.

Seattle shuts out the Marlins 3-0.  Kendall Graveman picks up win number 7 pitching the first 7 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 walks.

Nick Castellanos with a pinch hit home run (10) and Nick Senzel goes 4-5 with his first career 4 RBI game as the Reds down the Cubs in 10, 8-7.

Juan Soto crushes 2 home runs (17, 18) both off of Noah Syndergaard, as Washington tops the Mets 7-1.  Max Scherzer fans a dozen over 8 1/3 to move his record to 7-3.  The “Polar Bear,” Pete Alonso, hits his 2nd home run in as many days to give him 11 on the year.

Nolan Arenado hits number 15 as the Rockies stun the Dodgers 4-1.  Steven Wright goes 8 innings giving up 1 run for win number 2.  Clayton Kershaw gives up 2 earned runs through 5 2/3 to drop to 6-2.

Transactionally speaking:

The Angels activate Griffin Canning and send him to AAA for a rehab assignment.

All-Star Voting:

Cody Bellinger leads the voting in the NL with 1,254, 925 votes.  Juan Soto is the only other player to garner 900,000+ votes; and

Mike Trout still leads in the AL with 1,200,479 (nobody else with 900,000 yet).

That’s your Saturday journey around the bases.  Come back tomorrow for league leaders and standings!
