Leading off, the Brewers stun the Rays 7-4.  Christian Yelich with a 3-run shot (9) and Keston Huira adds a solo blast (11).

Greg Allen hits a grand slam (4) and Jose Ramirez with 2 home runs (9, 10) in Cleveland’s 11-5 victory over the Royals.

Boston says, video cameras or not, we don’t care, as they beat Houston 6-1.  Xander Bogaerts, Alex Verdugo and Jose Peraza all with 2 hits and Dillon Overton picks up his first win in the bigs going 8 2/3 giving up 1 run, a Josh Reddick blast (2), while striking out 5.

Jorge Polanco with line of the day today going 4-5 with 3 home runs (9, 10, 11) and 8 RBI.  Max Kepler hits number 20 and Kenta Maeda gives up 1 run over 7 innings to run his record to 7-1 in Minnesota’s 14-1 drubbing of the White Sox.

Todd Frazier puts the Rangers up for good in the bottom of the 7th with an RBI single in Texas’ 6-3 victory over the A’s.  Khris Davis 1-4 and still at .276.  14 more days to see if our prediction comes true!

JO ADELL!  JO ADELL! JO ADELL!  1-5 with his first major league home run in his 20th game played.  Brian Goodwin hits his 8th and Jason Castro adds 2 long balls to give him 9 on the year as the Angels top the Yankees 8-4.  Gary Sanchez with his 6th in the loss.

It took 14 innings, but Atlanta got it done and is the NL’s first team to 40 victories as they beat Seattle 5-4.  Travis d’Arnaud 3-6 with a couple of doubles while Ronald Acuna Jr. and Marcel Ozuna chip in with 2 hits apiece.  Cole Hamels gives up 4 runs, 1 earned, over 7 innings in the no-decision.

Toronto/Baltimore was rained out and will be reschedule for September 8th.

Trea Turner 2-5 with 2 RBI and Patrick Corbin gives up 2 runs over 6 2/3 to move to 5-1 as Washington tops the Phillies 4-2.

Jack Flaherty is the man!  Today he whiffs 10 in 7 innings while giving up 1 run as he advances his perfect record to 10-0.  Paul Goldschmidt (10) and Matt Carpenter (7) both with shots leaving the yard to supply the offense.  St. Louis tops the Pirates 3-1.

Wilson Contreras with 2 bombs (3, 4) today in Chicago’s 7-4 victory over Cincinnati.  Tyler Chatwood improves to 3-6.

Christian Walker with an RBI triple and Ketel Marte follows with an RBI double to get within 1 in the bottom of the 9th, but that’s as close as the D’backs can get to the Tigers.  Detroit takes it 4-3 behind Jonathan Schoop’s 12th home run and Daniel Norris giving up just 1 run over 8 innings.  Norris is now 4-5.

Daniel Murphy with a key 2-run double as the Rockies pick up a rare win beating San Francisco 4-2.  Jon Gray leaves the game after 5 outs with a strained oblique.

Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to trend upward as he goes 2-4 with his 11th bomb and 2 RBI to raise his average 17 points in the last 5 games to settle at .270.  Yasiel Puig has the walk-off double in this one and San Diego beats the Marlins 5-4.  Garrett Cooper 2-4 and now has the longest active hitting streak at 21 games.

Joc Pederson blasts 2 (19, 20) and Clayton Kershaw tosses 8 2/3 of shutout ball as the Dodgers blank the Mets 3-0.  Kershaw is now 6-1 with an uncharacteristically high ERA of 3.84.

Transactionally Speaking

Milwaukee activates Eric Sogard and designates Jace Peterson for assignment;

Oakland puts Mike Fiers on the 60-day IL with shoulder inflammation and he COULD miss the rest of the season;

White Sox activate Michael Kopech;

San Diego activates Chris Paddack; and

The Rockies put Jon Gray of the 15-day IL with the aforementioned strained oblique.

Standings

Tampa keeps a 6 game cushion on the Red Sox;

Minnesota running away with a 9 1/2 game lead on Cleveland;

Angels have 7 games on Houston;

Braves are 3 games ahead of the Nationals;

Cardinals cling to a 1 1/2 game lead over Pittsburgh; and

Dodgers are comfortably 7 games ahead of San Diego

Major League Leaders

Adam Eaton is at an even .400

Bellinger leads in home runs with 24, RBI with 65 and runs scored also at 65;

Adalberto Mondesi and Mallex Smith both have 26 steals;

Carlos Martinez leads ERA with 1.76;

10 wins for Jack Flaherty;

Gerrit Cole leads strikeouts with 109;

Walker Buehler and Zack Greinke both have a WHIP of .97; and

Will Smith leads the majors with 16 saves.

Awards

NL Rookie of the Month is Trevor Rogers.  He was 4-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 31.2 innings;

AL Rookie of the Month was Brendan McKay: 3-2, 2.01 ERA, 47 Ks in 40.1 innings;

NL Pitcher of the Month is Jack Flaherty going 5-0 with a 1.31 ERA;

Kyle Gibson with the AL honor going 4-0 with a 1.99 ERA;

NL Batter of the Month is Cody Bellinger by hitting .388 with 14 HR, 34 RBI and 36 runs;

AL Batter of the Month is Jorge Polanco at .410, 9 HR, 35 RBI and 28 runs;

Bellinger and Polanco are their respective league’s players of the week as well, Bellinger hit .387 with 3 homers, 13 RBI and 8 runs scored while Polanco hit .461 with 7 home runs and 21 RBI.

    1. I’d start taking screenshots of the box scores, but I don’t think you’d like authentication lol I still feel like the bombers have an overdue hot streak (or two) coming. Still a month and a half away from the all-star break. Pleeeeenty of baseball left to play.
