The White Sox get a rare win today beating Minnesota 5-3. Chelor Cuthbert 2-4 with a 3-run homer, his 1st of the year. Michael Pineda, a little rusty in his first action of the year, gives up 5 runs over 5 1/3 innings.
It could be day of the underdog as Toronto beats Baltimore 5-4. Randal Grichuk and Billy McKinney combine to go 7-10 with 4 RBI and Chase Anderson goes 7 innings giving up 1 earned in the no-decision.
Danny Santana 3-5 with his 12th home run and Todd Frazier has a walk-off 2-run single in the bottom of the 9th as Texas beats the A’s 3-2. Khris Davis 0-3 with a walk and now down to .276.
Kansas City finding new ways to lose as Cleveland scores 5 in the bottom of the 9th to come back and win this one 13-12. Domingo Santana (9, 10) and Bobby Bradley (1, 2) both leave the yard twice today in the victory.
The Red Sox overcome the curse of the Houston home game as Boston doubles up the Astros 6-3. Jeter Downs goes 3-5 while Jackie Bradley (6) and Mitch Moreland (7) crush balls out of the park. Ryan Weber tosses 100 pitches over 7 1/3 while giving up 3 runs to move his record to 5-3.
Charlie Morton strikes out 9 in 6 innings while giving up 1 run in Tampa’s 7-1 victory over the Brewers. Kevin Kiermaier with his 7th in the win.
The Yankee bullpen continues to be shaky giving up 5 runs in the 8th, but they hold on to beat the Angels by a score of 9-6. Luke Voit (8) and Giancarlo Stanton (16) both with home runs and Masahiro Tanaka gives up 2 runs over 7 innings to pick up win number 6.
Ronald Acuna Jr. heating up in interleague play going 3-4 with his 2nd home run (12) in as many days in Atlanta’s 5-1 victory over the Mariners. Bryse Wilson goes 6 2/3 giving up 1 run, a Mallex Smith (2) leadoff home run, on his way to his 6th win.
In the first game of their double header, the Dodgers shut out the Mets 6-0. Mookie Betts with his 12th and Joc Pederson with his 18th, a grand slam, in the victory. Walker Buehler strikes out 8 in 8 innings while giving up 2 of the 4 Mets’ hits to pick up win number 5.
The Mets get their revenge in game 2 with a 2-run walk-off home run (15) by Michael Conforto. Mookie Betts hits number 13 and 14 in the loss.
Josh Bell and Gregory Polanco both have 2 hits in Pittsburgh’s 3-0 blanking of the Cardinals. The Pirates held St. Louis to 5 singles on the day with Mitch Keller going the first 6 to secure victory number 6.
The Cubs score 2 in the bottom of the 8th and then Craig Kimbrel shuts the door in the 9th for his 10th save as Chicago beats Cincinnati 6-5.
Evan Longoria with a 2-run blast (7) in the bottom of the 8th to put San Fran on top for good. Tyler Anderson gives up 2 runs in 7 innings in the no-decision and now has an ERA of 1.31 through 20 2/3 innings. Just don’t let him pitch IN Colorado. Giants beat the Rockies 3-2.
Trea Turner has had a great 2 week stretch. Last Week’s NL Player of the Week has a grand slam (9) and a solo shot (10) today, but that wasn’t enough thanks to Robert Quinn’s RBI double in the 8th, as the Phillies come back to take out Washington 6-5.
Francisco Mejia 3-3 with 3 RBI as San Diego tops the Marlins 6-3. Joey Lucchesi fans 9 over 5 innings giving up 2 runs to move his record to 2-4.
Fielding sunk the Tigers today. Arizona puts up 7 runs, but only 2 were earned as Jeimer Candelario (6) and Austin Romine (4) commit 2 errors each, and pinned the loss on Casey Mize. Starling Marte (6) hits his 3rd in 2 days and Ketel Marte (12) his 3rd in 5 games as the Diamonbacks beat Detroit 7-2.
Transactionally Speaking:
The Twins put Miguel Sano on the 10-day IL with a bruised collarbone;
The Astros put former Red Sox Rule 5 pick, Jonathan Arauz, on the 40-man roster; and
Washington: Yan Gomes has a setback in his rehabilitation and could miss another 3 weeks with his strained hammy.
