Batter Up!
Tyler Glasnow starts us off, giving up just 2 hits over 6 2/3 while striking out 9 as the Rays top the Indians 3 to zip. Domingo Santana 0-4 with 4 K’s. We know what that means! Donde esta mi sombrero???
The A’s beat up the Rangers 7-1. Ramon Laureano 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI. Sean Manea goes 6 1/3 giving up 1 unearned run to grab his second victory. My question…How can a pitcher have an error and then have the ensuing run be unearned? Sounds like he earned it to me!
The Yankees do 4 runs of damage in the bottom of the 8th highlighted by a DJ LeMaheiu 2-run double. Aaron Judge goes 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI in the Yankees’ 7-4 victory over the Tigers.
The Royals keep on keeping on, doubling up the Orioles 6-3. Jorge Soler 3 for 4 with his 10th blast. Mike Montgomery gives up 2 hits over 6 innings yielding 1 run, an Austin Hays solo shot, on his way to win number 3.
The Red Sox go back, Jack and do it again as they beat the Blue Jays 9-5. Is Alex Verdugo for real? He goes 2 for 5 with his third home run and 5 RBI, raising his average to .294. Nathon Eovaldi gives up 5 runs over 8 innings to secure the win. Weak sauce!
The Angels lead off the first with 4 runs and guess what? That’s all they needed as they beat the Mariners 4-3. Mike Trout hits his 8th round tripper off of Marco Gonzalez.
Mike Moustakas hits his 12th and Nick Castellanos hits a walk-off double in the 10th as the Reds top the Braves 5-4.
The Cubs take out the Pirates 9-5. Albert Almora 3 for 5 with 3 RBI.
Michael Brantley with a home run in the 8th to break up a 3-3 tie, and that’s how this one ends between the Astros and Diamondbacks. Yordan Alvarez also going deep today.
The season isn’t going as expected for the White Sox. They drop today’s game with the Rockies 7-4. Trevor Story blasts one out of the park in the victory. It wasn’t all bad for the White Sox as prospect Luis Robert goes 3 for 4 to raise his average above the Mendoza Line.
The Phillies beat the Giants 7-3. Both Didi Gergorius and Andrew McCutchen with deep drives today to help Aaron Nola get his 6th victory. He pitches 8 1/3 giving up 3 runs.
Brandon Nimmo hits a grand slam in the 8th, but the Mets couldn’t do anything against Drew Streckenrider in the 9th as they fall to the Marlins 6-5. Michael Conforto borrowing Domingo Santana’s hat with his 4 strikeout day.
Starlin Castro hits a 3-run home run in the top of the 9th, but that’s as close as the Nationals could get. They drop this one to the Brewers 4-3. Brandon Woodruff tossing 7 2/3 giving up 4 hits, no runs and striking out 9 in his first win of the year.
Paul Goldschmidt hits his 8th home run in St. Louis’ 4-2 win over the Padres.
Max Kepler hits his 13th in the 5th, but it’s Ehire Adrianza with a sac fly in the 11th that’s the difference-maker as Minnesota gets the best of the Dodgers today 4-3.
In transaction news, it looks like Brandon Morrow will be getting comfortable (or uncomfortable depending on how you look at it) on the 60-day IL; Nick Pivetta has been activated and sent to AAA to rehab his shoulder inflamation; and Elvis Andrus is put on the 10-day IL with a strained oblique.
That’s your Wednesday snapshot of the day of baseball!
