Welcome back to the latest installment of the MLB simulated season. Today’s on the shorter side since there are just 8 games on the docket. Let’s get to it!
The Royals keep their foot on the gas as they beat the O’s 7-3. Adalberto Mondesi and Whit Merrifield both with two hits including home runs. Clay Buchholz leaves this game with what they’re calling a mild hamstring strain. He was a little wild in this one with 4 walks in 4 innings, but only allowed 1 hit and struck out 3.
What happened to the Red Sox? I’ll tell you what happened today…In a 3-3 game in the 10th inning, the Sox bring in Matt Barnes. In 1/3 of an inning’s work, he managed to walk the bases loaded on 21 pitches. Enter Brandon Workman. 8 pitches later, Workman walks in the game-winner. Good effort, fellas! Blue Jays win this one 4-3.
Francisco Lindor is getting hot! He goes 3 for 4 with his 10th bomb and 5 RBI as the Indians hand the Rays a loss 9-4.
The Rangers score 4 in the 6th inning highlighted by a Rougned Odor 3-run double as Texas beat Oakland 5-3.
Joey Votto found his stroke today going 3 for 6 with a 5th inning grand slam off of Darren O’Day, and Freddy Galvis adds 4 hits as the Reds pound the Braves 11-2. Luis Castillo going 6 1/3 giving up 2 runs and striking out 6 to earn his 3rd win.
Trevor Williams continuing his fine season pitching 5 1/3 innings of 2-hit ball, giving up 1 run, a solo shot from Ian Happ, to nab his 4th win. Pirates third baseman, Erik Gonzalez getting in done in the most un-sexy fashion going 0 for 2 with two sac flies for 2 RBI. Pirates beat the Cubs 4-1.
The Giants put in pinch hitter, Wilmer Flores in the 9th inning and that paid dividends. His RBI-single drives in Brandon Crawford to sink the Phillies 3-2.
And finally, Fernando Tatis Jr. now has 13 hits in his last 4 games to raise his average from .186 to .263 as he goes 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI today. Zach Davies continues to punish the competition giving up 6 hits and 1 run over 7 innings while making 7 batters look foolish. He’s a perfect 5-0 on the season.
Not much in the transaction department today. Tyler Naquin gets activated and sent to Triple A for a rehab assignment. Naquin is coming back from a torn right ACL.
That does it for today! Come back tomorrow for more combing of the box scores.
