The Red Sox get their revenge on the Indians today by winning 6-1. JD Martinez 4-5 with his 12th home run and Xander Bogaerts adds a 3-5 day with his 11th long ball. Eduardo Rodriguez pitches 7 innings of 3-hit shutout ball to pick up win number 8 and bring his ERA under the 4.00 mark at 3.89.
This is just what the Royals needed, a series with the White Sox. KC pounds the south side guys 16-4. Hunter Dozier was star of the day going 3-5 with his 14th homer and 5 RBI. Brad Keller gives up 2 earned runs over 6 1/3 innings to even his record at 4-4.
Texas scores 3 in the 6th highlighted by a 2-run double off the bat of Elvis Andrus as the Rangers beat the Angels 3-1. Kyle Gibson keeps rolling giving up 1 run over 6 1/3 for win number 5.
What’s gotten into Jorge Polanco?? Another 2-4 day adding his 12th home run to go along with 4 RBI. He now has 7 dingers in his last 5 games. Jake Odorizzi picks up win number 6 giving up 1 run over 7 innings as the Twins beat the Rays 5-2.
Sean Manaea strikes out 7 in 8 innings giving up just 1 run as the A’s come out victorious over the Tigers. Mark Canha blasts number 9 and Khris Davis was 1-3 and still at .276.
The Yankees erupt for 6 runs in the 7th to take down the Mariners 9-3. Luke Voit (10), Gio Urshela (12) and Giancarlo Stanton (18) all leave the yard while Gerrit Cole does the rest, fanning 8 over 7 1/3 giving up 3 runs to move to 4-5 on the year.
The Pirates mount a comeback in the later innings, but it’s just not enough to take out the Reds. Shogo Akiyama whacks his 9th ball over the fence and Trevor Bauer gives up 3 runs over 7 innings for his 7th victory. Cincinnati wins 4-3.
Trea Turner was 3-5 with his 11th home run and 2 RBI and brings his average to an even .300. Turner’s blast was of the walk-off variety in Washington’s 8-7 comeback win against the Brewers.
Justin Verlander imposes his will on the Mets today. Verlander whiffs 6 over 8 innings of shutout work while Robert Osuna tosses a perfect 9th for his 10th save. Jake deGrom gives up 1 run over 7 innings in the tough luck loss. Houston wins this one 1-0.
Garrett “don’t call me Gary” Cooper (would you believe his real nickname is “Coopaloop”??) extends his hitting streak to 22 games as he goes 2-3 with 3 RBI in Miami’s 5-0 blanking of the Phillies. Caleb Smith strikes out 10 over 7 innings for win number 4.
Baltimore sneaks by the Cubs 4-3. Ryan Mountcastle 3-5 with 2 RBI while John Means gives up 1 run in 5 innings for his 4th win. Jon Lester drops to 3-6 in the loss.
The Cardinals scored 5 runs in the 1st inning and then took the rest of the day off. Dexter Fowler with his 3rd home run while Alex Reyes pitches the first 6 of St. Louis’ 5-0 shutout victory over the Blue Jays.
Arizona pounds out 20 hits as they demolish Colorado 9-0. Ketel Marte with his 13th blast, Kole Calhoun with his 11th and Eric Thames with his 1st as a Diamondback and 9th of the year. Robbie Ray strikes out 10 over 6 2/3 on his way to win number 4.
Yasiel Puig and Tommy Pham both hit their 8th home runs as the Padres top the Giants 3-1. Dinelson Lamet evens his record at 3-3 by pitching 6 innings of shutout baseball.
And finally, Gavin Lux hits his 7th long ball and Will Smith goes 3-4 with 2 RBI as the Dodgers take out the Braves 5-1.
