Tuesday major league action starts NOW!

Luis Castillo strikes out 12 through 6 innings of scoreless work on his way to win number 5 while dropping his ERA under 3.00.  Shogo Akiyama stays hot going 2-4 with his 7th home run in Cincinnati’s 5-0 blanking of the Indians.

Kyle Tucker blasts his 11th home run and Zack Greinke baffles Toronto hitters through 7 1/3 innings in Houston’s 6-0 win.

Tampa plates 2 in the 8th to catch the Red Sox and then in the 10th, Kevin Kiermier puts the Rays on top for good with an RBI double.  This one ends 10-9.  Christian Vasquez has himself a 2 home run 6 RBI day in the loss.

Max Kepler with number 16 and Nelson Cruz adds his 13th as the Twins pulverize the Orioles 15-2.

Mike Trout does Mike Trout things and goes 3-3 with 2 walks and 3 RBI as the Angels squeak by the Royals 5-4.

Jose Abreu goes 2-4 with his 7th home run and 4 RBI on the day, but it’s teammate, Eloy Jimenez’s 10th inning walk-off shot that’s the difference maker here.  Chicago takes out the Rockies 7-6.  Nolan Arenado with 2 home home runs in the loss and now has 11 on the year.

Danny Santana hits the double digit mark in home runs today as Texas beats the A’s 4-3.  Mike Minor picks up his 5th win giving up 3 runs over 7 innings.  The Khris Davis watch shows and 0-4, 3 strikeout day to see his average dip back under the .300 mark.

Zach Davies back in the driver’s seat after a 3 game winless streak.  Davis gives up a solo shot by Jesus Aguilar through 6 2/3 to see his record go to 6-1 and his ERA under 3.00.  Padres top the Marlins 3-1.

Mallex Smith with a 3-4 day and finds himself the only player to cross the plate as the Mariners tip toe by the Nationals 1-0.  Wei-Yin Chen giving up just 4 hits over 8 2/3 for his 1st win of the year.

Kevin Newman goes 2-3 with an RBI and run scored in the Pirates’ 6-2 victory over the Cubs.  It looks like a whole lotta small ball in this one as Pittsburgh scores 4 in the 8th with no extra base hits.

Steven Matz with line of the day…Matz strikes out 7 and gives up just 2 Arizona singles in his complete game shutout.  Pete Alonso and Amed Rosario both with home runs as the Mets win 3-0.

The Yankees score 2 in the 9th off of Milwaukee closer, Josh Hader, but they can’t get to Corey Knebel and come up just shy 7-6.

Ronald Acuna Jr. has been hot since coming off the injured list.  He goes 3-5 today with his 9th blast of the year as the Braves take down the Cardinals 6-4.

Tyler Anderson tosses a gem today going all 9 giving up 6 hits and a walk to go with 9 strikeouts as San Fran shuts the Tigers out 2-0.  Anderson even helps out with the bat as his 4th inning single gets Brandon Crawford across the plate.

Mookie Betts knocks not 1, but 2 balls over the fence today to give him 11 on the year.  Max Muncy adds his 11th as well and Brusdar Graterol picks up his first win of the year, but it comes at a cost.  He exits the game after 5 innings of 2-run ball with an apparent injury.  It sounds like the Red Sox MAY have made the right call on that one!

All-Star voting starts today!

Transactionally speaking:

The Cubs are the latest team to sign Mark Trumbo; and

The Twins activate Michael Pineda and send him to AAA for a rehab assignment.

That’s your Tuesday trot around the basepaths!

  1. Edged by the Milwaukee Brewers after suffering yesterday’s debacle? I bet the sim–itself one of Satan’s self-professed best works–is predicting a Yankees slide. Watch them lose to the Little Rascals tomorrow. $#@**&! sim!!!

    1. The only way to find out is to come back daily! Would you take solace in knowing Gelyber hit his 11th and had 3 RBI (42 on the year and currently 4th in the majors)?
