Loot Crate Fiasco: The Saga Continues

Hell Naw

Welcome back fellow gluttons for punishment.  As you may or may not know, we’ve been having quite the battle with Loot Crate, which is a subscription box service.  Previous blog and background can be found here: June 23, 2019 Loot Crate Post.

So we filed our complaint with the Better Business Bureau on Saturday and Loot Crate has already responded, believe it or not!  Word for word, their response is below.

“We do apologize for the extended delay, and can assure the requester and all customers that our operations team is working hard to ship out these items as well as work toward making sure this sort of issue doesn’t happen again in the future. We truly appreciate the patience our Looters have displayed.

As the requester was informed by Loot Crate’s customer support team, a bonus mystery Lord of the Rings item will be included in the crate as further apology for the delay. If the requester has any further questions or concerns about their order, they can reply to their ticket with Loot Crate customer support who will be happy to assist.”

First of all, I find it kinda funny that Loot Crate wants me to deal with their customer support rather than post on the BBB site.  The BBB is our chosen forum at the moment and if they think that’s going to change, then they have another thing coming.

Second, this is a three box set.   The first box was supposed to ship in March, second to ship at the end of July and the third to ship in September.  The second shipment should be shipping BEFORE WE RECEIVE THE FIRST ONE!!!  Is this going to kick each subsequent box?  If they think this complaint will go away before the third installment is in our grubby hands, they’re sadly mistaken.

Third, they still haven’t acknowledged the fact that their website says it will ship by July 15th (which they fraudulently changed without notice), yet their individual emails say “Late July”.  They continue to misrepresent the deadlines THEY PUT IN PLACE and have zero intention of living up to their words.

Last (for now), they don’t acknowledge the fact that the people that are paying by the installment plan have had charges on their card for the second payment before the first product arrives!  How is this not a Ponzi scheme?

So I ask you, readers…what’s a reasonable request I should make.  This poor girl was promised she’d have something in March.  It’s going to be AT LEAST July (and I’m not convinced it’ll even be then) until she gets her hands on the first installment.  I’m thinking of requesting $50 off this $160+ purchase and tell them to commit in writing that they’ll hit their other deadlines.  Is this too much to ask?  Too little?  I stress $50 off of THIS purchase, because a percentage off a future purchase will NEVER happen in my household.  There will be no Loot Crate EVER AGAIN.

Stay tuned for my response to the BBB thread and any response going forward.
